How Amazon SES pricing works
Amazon Simple Email Service (SES) offers tiered pay-as-you-go pricing across three monthly plans (Essentials, Pro, and Enterprise) as well as an à la carte option. Charges are based on email volume sent or processed marginally across volume tiers, with optional add-ons, endpoint fees, and storage fees.
- Tiered rates are applied marginally — each rate applies only to the emails within that tier, not to your entire volume. Volume tiers apply independently to outbound emails sent and inbound emails processed via Mail Manager.
- New SES accounts and account x region combinations with no metered SES activity since June 1, 2025 will start on the Essentials plan beginning July 21, 2026. You can upgrade or switch to à-la-carte pricing at any time.
- Plan upgrades take effect immediately when you submit the request. If you did not explicitly choose a plan and were defaulted to the Essentials plan, your first downgrade or cancellation to à la carte pricing also takes effect immediately. - Additional charges of $0.12 per gigabyte (GB) of data in attachments sent; Mailbox Simulator emails are billed at the same rate as Outbound Email.
- Global Deliverability is not available in AWS GovCloud (US-West), AWS GovCloud (US-East), or AWS European Sovereign Cloud.
- Pro includes 1 domain, 1 DIPs and 5 seedlist tests; Enterprise includes 5 domains, 12 DIPs, and 25 seed list tests; Essentials plan customers pay $1,250 per month (includes 5 domains, 12 DIPs, and 25 seed list tests).
- Extra API validations cost $0.01/validation beyond plan allowances (2,500/month on Pro, 5,000/month on Enterprise).
- Global Endpoints requires multi-region routing and is not available in AWS European Sovereign Cloud.
- Tenants include 1,000 tenants per account per region on Enterprise; additional tenants cost $0.005/month/tenant.
- Open Ingress Endpoint costs $50 per endpoint per month on Essentials and Pro (1 included on Enterprise).
- New AWS customers receive up to $200 in AWS Free Tier credits usable towards eligible AWS services, including Amazon SES, for up to 6 months after account creation (valid within 12 months).
